Designed for all ages and abilities, our workshops are fun, educational and really enjoyable; offering a dynamic and engaging exploration of poetry. Pep has over 35 years experience of working in Education and is passionate about fostering a love of poetry within the minds of the young learners he meets every day. 

 

Poetry Performance

This workshop is a high-energy exploration of the power of spoken word. Students will learn performance techniques like vocal projection, stage presence and creative delivery to bring poems to life.


Objectives

  • Develop confidence and public speaking skills.

  • Explore the power of language and rhythm.

  • Analyse and interpret existing poems for performance.

  • Develop creative expression through performance.


Outcomes

  • Students will gain the skills to deliver poems with confidence and flair.

  • They will develop a deeper appreciation for the power of language and spoken word.

  • Students will have the opportunity to showcase their newfound skills through a performance at the end of the workshop (optional).

Poetry Writing Workshop (KS2 Only)

This workshop takes students on a journey of creative expression. Through interactive activities and playful prompts.  They'll explore various poetic forms, hone their writing skills and discover their unique voices.


Objectives

  • Develop creative writing skills and explore different poetic forms.

  • Utilise imagery and figurative language to enhance writing.

  • Craft personal and expressive poems.

  • Build confidence in expressing themselves through writing.


Outcomes

  • Students will develop a solid foundation in various poetic forms and techniques.

  • They will gain a deeper understanding of how to use language creatively.

  • Students will leave the workshop with a collection of their own poems, fostering a sense of accomplishment.

Hybrid Day: Poetry Performance & Writing (EYFS/KS1 & KS2)

This exciting program combines both performance and writing throughout the day. Younger students (EYFS & KS1) will engage in playful performance activities focusing on rhythm and expression. Older students (KS2) will delve deeper into writing, exploring different forms and crafting their own poems.


Objectives (EYFS & KS1)

  • Develop confidence and explore self-expression through movement and voice.

  • Discover the joy of language and rhythmic play.

  • Learn basic performance techniques like vocal variety and body language.

  • Participate in a fun, collaborative performance activity.

Objectives (KS2)

  • Develop creative writing skills and explore various poetic forms.

  • Utilise imagery and figurative language to enhance writing.

  • Craft personal and expressive poems.

  • Build confidence in expressing themselves through writing.
